Report blasts Austin’s construction safety record

This is probably caused by the fact that Texas is the ONLY state that does not require workman’s compensation insurance….

According to a critical report surveying the construction industry, 20% of Austin-area construction workers last year reported on-the-job injuries that required a trip to the doctor, and 20% of those employees said employers refused to pay their medical bills.

Bribing an official with 10K on a $7.6 million dollar project…Shall we call him Einstein?

Former C.F. Jordan Exec indicted over $10,000 bribe for $7.6M county parking garage contract

A federal grand jury has indicted Adrian Edward Pena, the former executive of a major El Paso construction company, C.F. Jordan Inc, in connection with the county contract for a $7.6 million parking garage annex Downtown.

Crooked contractors leave clients in shambles in Texas.

Kathy and Terry Dahlke are slowly piecing their home back together, four years after a contractor left a $43,000 remodeling job unfinished.

The contractor said he ran out of money, although he had been paid in full, and left behind an unfinished garage, unstable staircase and shoddy kitchen, among other uncompleted jobs.

Although they got an indictment against the contractor for misusing their money, the Dahlkes haven’t recovered a dime.

“I feel like I have zero rights,” said Kathy Dahlke, 47. “And when it came down to it, I didn’t have any.”
